On January 4, 2023, the well-known manufacturer Roborock presented new - S8 series - robotic pumps and automatic collection stations! There are currently 3 different models known: Roborock S8, Roborock S8 Plus and Roborock S8 Pro ULTRA. So, what innovations and improvements will we get and how much will the flagship series pumps cost?
"DuoRoller" - double brush system
Up until now, the dual brush system was basically only offered by the iRobot Roomba robot vacuums on the market. Well, at least until now, because Roborock decided to borrow this great investment and applied this improvement to their new series models. The "DuoRoller" system should ensure more efficient suction and ensure that as little hair as possible wraps around the brushes. Well, this of course means that the robot vacuum will require even less maintenance and cleaning!
"Reactive 3D" - obstacle avoidance system
If earlier obstacle detection - bypass sensors were installed only in more expensive Roborock pumps, e.g. Roborock S7 MaxV, Roborock S6 MaxV, from now on - the entire S8 series will be equipped with it. It can be said that this will be a new standard in premium class models.
It is true that it should be noted that, in contrast to the MaxV models, different types of sensors will be used instead of cameras, so it will not be possible to see photos of detected obstacles and at the same time it will not be possible to see the live image of the robot pump camera on your smartphone.
Updated VibraRise system
Roborock S7 was the first robot vacuum with a lifting and vibrating wet cleaning mechanism. This constant vibration of the wet mop in different directions seems to imitate scrubbing movements and cleans the floor much more efficiently compared to conventional robot vacuums, where the mop just drags along.
The new Roborock S8 / S8 Pro comes with an improved 2-zone vibration system, so it provides even more effective wet cleaning and should theoretically clean even better than the previous S7 series models. It remains to wait for the first tests and comparisons to be sure of the effectiveness of this improvement. Or maybe it's just a marketing trick?
Even 6000Pa suction power
Roborock does not stop and continues to surprise with increasing suction power. But again, the fundamental question is whether such power is really needed? Even the previous models with a suction power of 2200Pa were really good at vacuuming both normal floors and carpets. The later presented Roborock S7 Pro / MaxV models were already surprising because their power was increased to 5100Pa, and here is the S8 series - completely space with 6000Pa.
True, probably few people know that when combining dry vacuuming with wet cleaning (at the same time), that maximum suction power will not be used anyway, because there is a risk that the robot will simply suck in the water droplets, which may have negative consequences for the pump itself. So, if you want to use that MAX power, you can only choose it after setting the dry suction function through the APP.
Updated ULTRA stop
The first Roborock ULTRA station was introduced back in early 2022 and it was very close to perfection. Perfectly cleans the cloth of the robot pump, the additional pump with clean water and sucks the collected dust and dirt from the internal dust box into the larger capacity dust bag.
The second generation ULTRA station has minimal design changes, but more importantly, it now has a wet cloth drying function, which was missing in the original model. This drying system ensures more hygiene and prevents the development of various microbes.

Estimated price
Roborock continues to improve its pumps and indeed the S8 series looks very attractive. It is true that all these updates mean that the prices will be a bit higher than before. The estimated price of the Roborock S8 model in the US market will reach $749, the Roborock S8 Plus (with automatic dust collection station) will cost $999, and for the most advanced Roborock S8 Pro ULTRA you will have to pay even $1599.
It is not yet clear how much the price will be in Europe. Of course, NiuxTech will, as always, try to find better deals and discount coupons so that you can get these robot pumps cheaper! If you don't want to miss out on offers, be sure to follow our news Facebook on the page.
