Unboxing

The parcel traveled for about 2 weeks from the EU warehouse, so no duty had to be paid, delivered by DPD courier. Packed in separate boxes, in one box - solar module, in another - power station. It was funny that the mobile power station was packed in two transport boxes and only then in the product packaging.

After opening the solar module box, I found a cable with MC-4 connectors (special cable for solar modules) with 6 different tips and an instruction. The mobile station kit includes instructions, a car 12V charging cable, a connection transition cable (adapter) and instructions in various languages (UA language is not available).

Quality / design

Mobile electrical station NECESPOW N1200 - due to the weight of 12 kg, it will not be called "light". The top has a sturdy plastic handle for convenient transportation. The body is also plastic, dark in color with green accents. All connections are located at the front. The ventilation holes on the sides allow the power station to "smell" more easily.

Solar module NECESPOW 120W - made of rain-resistant, strong, solid material called ETFE. It does not have a handle, but there is a bag for transportation, which also holds the cables for charging.

Functionality

NECESPOW N1200 has: 3 electrical outlets, 2 USB-C connectors, 2 USB-A connectors, 5W LED lamp, screen, 12V socket and car 12v connector. One of the USB-C connections can be used for both charging and discharging. As before trying FlashFish UA550 or BlitzWolf PG1, this one does not have any APP for remote control.

Although the UPS function is not supported by this model, it did not cause problems when trying to charge and use at the same time. This model, like the BLUETTI EB3A model, uses LiFePO4 cells. The maximum allowed charging after connecting several solar modules is 225W (12-30 7.5A).

What did we like?

Although the NECESPOW N1200 is not light, the power and capacity it provides make up for the weight. It has 3 electrical outlets, so you will need to take care of one electrical hub less. When connecting a second or third device to the power outlet, there is no blackout like on the BlitzWolf PG1.

Really comfortable, fixed handle integrated in the upper part, if compared to BlitzWolf PG1 or Flashfish UA550, whose handles creak a little when lifted. When viewed from a distance, the design of the powerstation resembles a retro radio. 

The screen is black and white, similar to the Bluetti EB3A, the information is easy to read and understand. USB-C (PD) can deliver up to 100W of power. I did not find a household appliance at home that did not work. Even the Xiaomi kettle boiled 1.5L of cold water as well as possible. About 7% of energy was consumed, but the desired result was achieved!

After pressing and holding the AC+USB module activation buttons for 5s, the 24h automatic shutdown protection is activated, so if you forget to turn it off, the station will turn itself off. The large LED light on the front, which has a white/red flashing SOS effect, can be used not only to call for help, but also at a party.

Solar module NECESPOW 120W - strong, rain-resistant materials. The manufacturer allows you to connect several solar modules for faster/evener charging, but you need to purchase a special cable separately.

What we didn't like?

I thought for a long time about what to stick to here, however, there are several details that I did not like. The NECESPOW N1200 power station, like the FlashFish UA550 or BlitzWolf, has a charging block in the kit, I will repeat that in my opinion it is more convenient to have only a power cord like the Bluetti model. 

You need to turn on the power station with a separate button, and only then you can turn on the desired module. In my opinion, this is an unnecessary additional protection and action. However, if you first connect the cable with the USB-C/A plug before turning on the powerstation, it will be detected automatically and the module will turn on by itself. USB-C/A, electrical sockets do not have protective covers, just like the FlashFish UA550 or BlitzWolf models, personally such covers give a greater sense of security.

Solar module NECESPOW 120W, the solar cells themselves look more reliable than the TSP18V100W model, made of strong ETFE material, but the edges of the module body are a bit sharp, I don't know if it's just me or all modules are made like this, if you hold it by the side and slip your fingers, you can get hurt

It does not have any additional connections for separately charging mobile or other small devices, only for power stations. I didn't like the charging cable - it has two separate connectors for plus/minus, and a tangle of tips at the other end. When taken outside to "catch the sun" at a slight minus, the wires harden - not intended for low temperatures.

Is it worth buying?

The LiFePO4 cells used in NECESPOW N1200 are characterized by durability and capacity retention - even after 2000 charging cycles, the capacity of the 80% cell remains, which allows the battery to serve for more than 10 years! A great helper both at home and in nature. If the electricity goes out at home, apart from charging your computer or phone, you can make a hot drink or even keep the room warm!

On a picnic in nature, you will feel at home with all the pleasures of electricity. With the LED lamp, you will not only be able to light up the environment, but also liven up the party being held with the flashing white/red light effect. After purchasing a solar module, you will be able to partially or fully charge the mobile power station with the light provided by the sun while you are in nature or traveling.

If you are looking for a mobile power station only for charging small devices, you can choose from the products of the previously reviewed manufacturers and weigh which one is most acceptable to you. A more powerful model would be needed for wider use.

If you look at what the already tried manufacturers offer from 1000W power, the following would be similar:

2. BLUETTI PowerOak EB70 - 1000W - 716Wh

Their prices are similar, but NECESPOW is more powerful at 200W and almost twice as large. The BLUETTI has a wireless charging function, but the NECESPOW has an additional power socket, so this is a bigger plus. The functionality of both is similar.
