Xiaomi decided not to be stingy and launched the new Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 Pro giant on the market, which surpasses its competitors in size and power. It is this type of pump that makes life much easier when you need to inflate a tire or ball quickly and effortlessly.

Compared to other Xiaomi portable pump models, this "monster" offers to complete the assigned tasks twice as fast and efficiently. So, let's test, compare and find out the true potential of the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 Pro!

Unboxing

After unpacking the box, first of all, you need to unwrap its contents using the "lavash" principle. After doing this, the Xiaomi pump itself appears, and on top, in a small box, a fabric bag for this pump is folded. We also have a USB-C cable for charging the portable pump.

For multifunctional use of the pump, the package includes three different nozzles (for balls, cars, bicycles) and an additional hose that can be used as an extension. Let's not forget the user manual, which I found inside, but I couldn't read it because it's in Chinese...

First impressions and build quality

From the first touch of this product, you still feel that this is the Pro model, as its dimensions are almost twice as large as other Xiaomi portable pump models. Considering its size and weight, you won't be able to easily fit it into a small compartment of a backpack, but just as beauty requires sacrifices, power and efficiency also require more space.

Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 Pro, like other products from this manufacturer, has a plastic body. The matte plastic covering it on all sides looks quite high-quality and is difficult to scratch. The ventilation holes on the sides and bottom not only perform their function of saving the device from breathing, but also add a bit of style to the overall appearance. 

Considering the weight of this device, it seems like the plastic would not withstand the impact if the pump were to fall to the ground and would easily break. This portable pump is not made entirely of plastic, as some of the control buttons and the charging port are covered in silicone.

Like the other models, this one has LED lighting, but not one, but two! One light is located on the top of the device, and the other is on the back of the device, and it is quite large. I think this is a great and effective idea to use the empty back of the case. 

The screen is also larger and brighter than other pumps. The air hose seems to be quite high quality and sturdy, with a renewed use.

Usage

Previous Xiaomi portable pump models could be turned on by pulling the air hose out of its place. The Xiaomi Air Pump 2 Pro has a dedicated button on the top of the body, so pressing it will release the air hose and then the pump will turn on automatically.

When you turn on the screen, you will immediately see zeros and you can navigate the settings using the five physical buttons. You can set the required air pressure by pressing the + and - buttons, but please note that the initial air pressure setting is PSI.

You can change the pressure measurement unit to BAR by pressing the rightmost control button and holding it for a while. By pressing the right menu button, you can set what item you want to inflate. There are five presets in total: bicycle, scooter, motorcycle or car tires, as well as inflating a ball to the correct pressure.

No problem if you need to inflate your car tire in the dark. This portable pump even has two flashlights. Pressing the left button and holding it for about two seconds will turn on the lighting on the top of the device. Pressing the same button again will turn on the lighting on the back of the pump, and pressing it further will turn on a flashing white light.

Xiaomi has taken care of your safety on the road in the dark and has installed a red light that lights up and flashes like an emergency signal. Once you have set the appropriate function or the required air pressure and taken care of the lighting, all you have to do is press the middle button of the pump and let the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 Pro do its job.

Comparison with Xiaomi Air Compressor 2

These two models are quite similar in design, but there are a few key differences. The Air Compressor 2 is almost half the size and lighter than its big brother, the Air Pump 2 Pro. The menu control buttons are arranged in the same way and both models are navigated in exactly the same way. Since the Air Compressor 2 is more compact, its display is smaller and, unfortunately, not as bright.

The Air Compressor 2 pump comes with a slightly poorer package, as the box does not include a charging cable and an additional air hose, like its bigger brother.

The air supply hoses on both models are located at the top. Like the other models, the air hose on the Air Compressor 2 is pulled out, thereby waking up the pump itself. In turn, the Air Pump 2 Pro has an updated hose extraction mechanism with the press of a button.

Another easily noticeable difference is the LED lighting. The Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 can help illuminate the environment in the dark, but it only has one LED light, which does its job, but is not very bright. The Air Pump 2 Pro model has two LED lights, which can do this task twice as well.

Let's compare the batteries of these pumps: the Air Compressor 2 has a 2000mAh x 2 battery, and the Air Pump 2 Pro model I'm testing has 2500mAh x 3. The twice-larger battery in the Pro model allows it to perform almost every task 2.2 times faster than the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2.

The advantage of the battery was evident from the first tests, when the Pro model inflated a car tire without feeling anything, while the smaller one had to get more tired and use up much more battery power. The battery charging time of both pumps is quite similar - the Pro model takes about 3.5 hours, and its little brother, the Air Compressor 2, takes about 3 hours. Both models can be charged via USB-C.

Tests and results

We have discussed the appearance and the fundamental differences, so it remains only to substantiate the advantages of the Xiaomi Air Pump 2 Pro with facts. During testing, the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 and the Xiaomi Air Pump 2 Pro performed the same tasks, and I recorded the time it took to complete them.

During the test, I tried to inflate a basketball, as well as bicycle and car tires. Additionally, I tested whether these portable pumps would be able to inflate a completely flat car tire.

Comparing the results of both models, the advantage of the Xiaomi Air Pump 2 Pro's "extra muscles" is clearly visible. Of course, the Air Compressor 2 really coped with the tasks quite well and can be a great helper in any everyday situation.

It was also surprising that this little one was able to inflate a completely flat car tire! Of course, the Air Compressor 2 had to work extremely hard and drain a significant portion of its battery before the PRO model completely got tired after working for 3 minutes non-stop.

The results of the Xiaomi Air Pump 2 Pro speak for themselves, because when participants of different weight categories met, one of them had to admit a "knockout". The PRO model coped with all the tasks not only more effectively, but also more efficiently. The Pro model inflated all the tires and balls with a completely different power and without any hassle, while the smaller competitor had to try harder in some places.

Verdict

Both tested Xiaomi portable pump models left a very good impression and prompted me to add these products to my wishlist. However, when choosing an electric pump, it is important to clarify your needs. If you want a lighter, more compact model and will mainly inflate balls, scooters, bicycles - the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 model is completely sufficient. 

For those who want more power, performance, and versatility, so that they can inflate even a completely flat car tire without much difficulty, I would recommend choosing the Xiaomi Air Compressor 2 Pro.
