Unboxing

The Roborock Dyad Pro or as I like to call it "the vacuum cleaner" arrived from Geekbuying via e-mail. shops. Shipping from a Polish warehouse, so everything was perfect and there were no customs or other charges. Delivered by DPD courier directly to the house, and the trip itself took a total of 6 days.

After opening the product package, we find: instructions, air filter, charging unit, docking station, the pump itself, 3 material rollers, a handle for control, a cleaning brush. The pump itself also has 3 containers: for dirty water, clean water, detergent liquid.

Quality

So about the quality itself. I would not be afraid to say that most manufacturers are looking for cheaper materials in order to save money. Not removed for this product either. The plastic is not of the "highest grade". It looks quite cheap, but not so much that it would be terrible to break it when removing a liquid container. The Roborock S7 vacuum at home seems to be made of much higher quality materials.

All the water containers fit neatly, without any additional "wiggle wiggle" movements. Clean water capacity 900ml, dirty water 700ml, washing liquid capacity 180ml. 

The rollers that will have the most work also look neat, no unnecessary threads hanging out and such, the material with small bristles is sealed around the plastic. Very similar to paint rollers, maybe something could be thought of here to replace them? Haha…

Charging dock - here I can safely say that it looks really made of very "cheap" plastic. It is convenient that there are holders for the charging cable. If the mains socket is close to the ground and a long cable will not be needed, you can simply wrap it around and there will be no protruding wires. The station also has an integrated fan for drying fabric rolls.

The handle of the Roborock Dyad Pro is sturdy and can be removed when not in use. It just snaps in and locks in place quite stiffly, so it will take a bit of force to get it out. It has 3 buttons on top: on/off, power selection and self-cleaning.

The weight of the pump itself is about 4.8 kg and here without filled water tanks. After filling the water and detergent containers, the pump becomes even heavier by ~ 1kg. There is a built-in screen above the clean water container. Displays the selected suction-washing mode and the percentage of the remaining battery.

Functionality

The station itself is designed not only to charge the Roborock Dyad Pro pump - broom, but at the same time performs the functions of cleaning and drying the rollers. Control through the APP - after launching it, a short introductory animation will first play. The display of buttons on the main screen depends on the status of the pump.

The cog button is visible in any mode. After entering its menu, you can choose:

• The speed of rotation of material rollers;
• Wetting level of material rollers;
• Suction power.

If the pump-broom is installed for charging and plugged into an electrical outlet, then the following cleaning buttons are visible:

• Balanced Self-Cleaning - this is a regular, short and shallow cleaning program for fabric rollers.
• Deep Self-Cleaning - this is a deep cleaning program for fabric rollers.
• Silent Drying - silent drying program after cleaning. Its duration can be changed in hourly intervals from 2h to 6h.
• Fast Drying - quick drying function, lasts about 1 hour. When selected, the fan starts spinning faster.
• Start Self-Cleaning - the button is for manually starting the cleaning program.
• Schedule - the timer is used to set the desired time for the cleaning program.

If the vacuum cleaner is docked and turned on, the following suction selection buttons are visible on the main screen of the app:

• Car - the pump itself will decide what power to pump. 
• MAX - maximum suction power mode.
• Floor Drying - floor dry cleaning mode.
• Eco Mode - power saving mode.

To start pumping, you need to put your foot on the left side of the pump head and while holding it, bend the handle down. This means that the pump is unlocked and can be switched on for work. Through additional settings, it is possible to set Roborock Dyad Pro to start working automatically after unlocking it in this way. After finishing work, it is enough to tilt the handle to the locking position and the pump will turn itself off.

The suction power and water flow intensity are represented by the blue/red line on the display. This technology is called DirTect by Roborock. The sensor sees where there is more dirt, in which case it increases the suction power and water flow. When displaying the changes, the blue line changes to red, it looks like a car's digital tachometer.

After vacuuming/washing, the cleaning program starts when docked. Alternatively, the flush button on the handle can be pressed manually. The pump takes water from the clean water container and pours it onto the rotating fabric rollers. In other words, it simulates surface cleaning, only it does it on site - at the dock. Dirty water is collected in a separate water tank.

If there is no clean water or the dirty water tank is full, the cleaning program is not executed. After entering the additional menu, it is possible to choose whether to start the cleaning program automatically after docking and what power drying will be carried out afterwards. During drying, the pump rotates the rollers regularly to ensure even drying.

Roborock Dyad Pro has a built-in speaker, so it announces each command with separate voice messages. The volume and desired language can also be selected from the app.

What did we like?

The multi-functional dock is convenient because it fits very easily into the dock, and the pump-broom in it performs the necessary procedures to wash the rollers. The rollers themselves are washed really quite clean. Of course, if you wash it additionally, even with household soap, the water is a little dirty.

Detachable Handle - If you are tight on storage/darkroom space and the handle is in the way, removing it should solve the problem. It is enough to click the latch holding the handle and pull it out. 

Long battery life - 80m² can be cleaned using 35-40% batteries. I always leave it in AUTO mode when handling. The vacuum-broom itself sometimes only turns on a more powerful mode when the carpet is being vacuumed in front of its hair.

In order not to clog the sink, after removing the container of dirty water and pulling out the plastic, there is a separate colander in its contraction. When dirty water is poured through it, the colander collects bigger dirt. After that, it is convenient to throw the accumulated "property" into the trash.

Since the vacuum-broom has various flexes for maneuvering, it is easy to vacuum between various objects or furniture. If compared to a robot vacuum, I personally find it much easier to push an item with the Roborock Dyad PRO than to bend over for every item left behind and put it in place. Especially if it is a child's toy and you know for sure that in a few minutes it will still be on the ground, even if it is in a different place.

After a normal vacuum, the next job would be wet cleaning the floor. A very big plus of this house cleaner is that you can vacuum and wash at the same time. Without problems, such a mass as tomato sauce, mustard and the like is astringent. Swipe there, swipe there and it's clean! 

In my opinion, the buttons are placed conveniently. All are within thumb reach when holding the handle. You don't need anything else, after placing it in the charging/washing dock, you can either press the cleaning button or the function will activate itself.

What we didn't like?

It is necessary to dry the rollers very well, otherwise an unpleasant smell will appear, like a lying wet rag. When drying with Silent mode, choosing a time interval of 3 hours is not enough for complete drying (you need to set the maximum allowed amount - 6 hours, then it dries completely). When the Fast drying function is selected, the fan works very loudly, about 80-85dB.

It would be an advantage if the app allowed you to select the desired setting for the humidification button. This button does nothing during vacuuming/cleaning at this time. To change the moisture level of the cloth, it is possible only after turning on the app, and the supply of washing liquid is not regulated in any way.

Pouring some nice scented cleaner into the washer fluid tank and setting it to a higher feed level would eliminate the unpleasant smell caused by the incomplete drying of the rollers, I think. Because the liquid would disinfect the rollers and give them the desired aroma, of course if the cleaner has any scent.

In addition, if you forget to empty the dirty water tank, it will not create a nose-wrinkling smell. Once I forgot to empty the dirty water container, when I opened it, it smelled like a sewer, the good thing is that the lid closes tightly, so this smell did not spread to the environment. 

You need to get used to the posture, because if you lean too far forward, it turns off because it locks. When vacuuming/cleaning stairs, the locking latch is triggered more often due to excessive forward tilt. Do not bend below (back) than 60⁰, so that water does not get into the engine or there is no leakage of dirty water, there is a sticker indicating that the handle cannot be bent.

Another observation is that during very fast maneuvering on the carpet, the rollers were pulled out of their mounting several times. It happened more than once that the vacuum cleaner/broom turns off when vacuuming the carpet. The voice says that I'm stuck, but it's not. To the pump program, it looks like something is stuck/stuck in the rollers. If there was a carpet with long bristles, I think it would turn off even faster. 

Verdict

Many of us put off housework because it is not a very interesting activity. We are always looking for ways to make it easier. Roborock has offered an updated variant of the pump-broom Dyad Pro. 

At home, the Roborock S7 robot vacuum reigns supreme. I thought no one could replace him. No need to push or lift anything yourself. After testing Roborock Dyad Pro, I noticed that my robot has been standing in the corner for a very long time and doesn't understand why I don't include it in the house cleaning process. And that's because with this Roborock Dyad Pro, the suction is more "flexible". 

If there is a small object lying around, you can push it wherever you want. The robot vacuum will simply push such items around the house. Or e.g. if there are shoes on the ground, the robot usually sucks in the shoelaces and stops, or drags the shoe around the entire room. It is possible to vacuum the stairs with a robot, but it would be a very big "game". This "vacuum cleaner" really stuck to me.

Well, yes, there are a few things that could be improved, but other than that, it's a great helper. The robot vacuum can also both vacuum and wash at the same time, but I personally prefer the Roborock Dyad Pro. The biggest advantage of "vacuum cleaners" is that you vacuum and wash the stairs at the same time.

You can't do that with the S7 robot, you have to use a broom. With small children in the house and the mess they cause after meals is also very quickly resolved. Did an egg break or spill water on the floor? No problem either!

Would I Recommend this Roborock Dyad Pro? Really so! Pour clean water, detergent and after ~ 20 minutes of use, the floor of the house is clean! The most important thing is not to forget to pour out the accumulated dirty water, so that when you remember it much later, you don't have to scream because of the unpleasant smell. 

All cleaning and drying work is performed by the vacuum cleaner and broom itself. At the time of testing, the price of this model was €379 - a bit high, I would prefer to pay no more than €330. But maybe there will be good shares in the near future? 🙂
