Brushing your teeth - while it's a routine for some, it's a favorite process for others. Just like with regular toothbrushes, which come in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and hardnesses, the choices with electric toothbrushes seem endless.

Assessment:
What did we like?
What didn't we like?
The first mass-produced electric toothbrush was released in 1960. Until today, brushes with various cleaning properties have been created (rotating, vibrating, oscillating, etc.), and after more than 60 years, the Oclean X Pro Digital model was introduced to the world. This is today's brush, which allows you to choose a variety of programs that match your tooth type, providing feedback on cleaned and uncleaned areas. So, with a fresh smile, I present a review of this electric toothbrush.

Unboxing
This box and the level of packaging of its contents can be described in one word - impressive. And indeed, this level of packaging and “unboxing” experience can be expected from expensive products, but not from an item costing up to 70€. Everything is thought out to the last detail and arranged impeccably.

The contents of the box are extensive. It includes an electric toothbrush, 2 different types of brushes (4 in total), a travel case, a wireless charging station that can also be mounted on the wall, Micro USB and USB-C cables, and a short user manual.

First impressions
The Oclean X Pro Digital toothbrush is of impeccable quality. Its body is made of plastic that is pleasant to the touch, and on the front there is a screen with a physical on/off button. There is a place for charging at the bottom. Nothing sticks or creaks when shaking and moving, so the assembly is excellent.

The charger, which is easily removable from the wall-mounted plate, connects with a Micro USB cable. An odd choice, since the travel case (more on that later) charges with a USB-C cable. When you attach the charger back to the plate, the toothbrush is attached magnetically. It holds firmly enough, but if you accidentally hook it or knock it, it can fall.

The travel case is covered in a leather-like material, making it very pleasant to the touch. The brush head is inserted into the case first, and the electric toothbrush is inserted before it. Both components are firmly pressed and do not move in the case. When closed, the elastic cord is hooked onto the round hook and the case remains securely closed. At the bottom of it you will find a USB-C charging port, through which you can charge the brush itself.

The set includes two types of brushes - a slightly larger "professional clean brush" and a smaller "delicate care". The latter is more suitable for smaller jaw shapes and hard-to-reach areas. Both brushes are classified as hard according to the manufacturer, but personally I found them to be quite soft.

Although it may look different to each of us, the Oclean X Pro Digital is worthy of awards in terms of design. It is a simple and elegant toothbrush that perfectly complements any bathroom. The manufacturer also offers several colors - silver, gold, blue and purple, so everyone can choose.

Usage
Oclean X Pro Digital has three cleaning modes, each with a different duration and intensity. The Sunrise Soothing mode is designed for use in the morning, and the gentle mode lasts two minutes and 30 seconds. The three-minute Sunset Clearout cleans much more intensively and strongly, thus more effectively removing plaque before bedtime.

The third, “Exclusive” mode can be customized to each individual’s needs and preferences, but this can only be done via the app. If this mode is not set, it works as a standard, unlimited cleaning that can only be stopped manually.

One of the most interesting features of the Oclean X Pro Digital is the six-axis gyroscope. The teeth cleaning is divided into 8 zones and with the help of the gyroscope the cleaning of these zones is tracked. After finishing the cleaning or taking a pause, you will see a small picture of the jaw on the screen, where the uncleaned zones will be marked in red.

Depending on the settings you choose, after a cleaning session has finished and not all areas have been cleaned properly, you can continue the cleaning with an additional cleaning mode. After the cleaning session is complete, the screen will display a cleaning score on a scale from 0 to 100. This adds a bit of excitement to your daily brushing, as reaching 100 is always fun (and healthy!).

How long does the battery last? According to the manufacturer, 30 days. In reality, the results are strongly influenced by the selected modes and cleaning strengths. Using the longest and strongest ones, you will definitely not be able to achieve 30 days. And using the adaptive morning/evening mode and stronger modes most of the time, the battery lasted me 21 days. It's great that even with a few percent of the battery left, the brush continues to work at full capacity. A full charge took about 3 hours.

Oclean app
Like most smart devices, this one has its right hand - an app. You can find the Oclean app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. When you turn on the toothbrush for the first time, the screen displays information that the toothbrush needs to be paired using the app. Everything is simple and fast, and the connection is via Bluetooth.

The main window of the app provides basic information related to brushing your teeth. The latter is added when you start using the brush. The first information provided is in the form of a three-leaf clover (hence the name), and it contains the main information of the day - how long your teeth were brushed, the score and the frequency of brushing. By clicking on this box, you can access the history and explore the data of each brushing in more detail with a 3D representation of the jaw.

Below is a weekly story with average brushing scores, duration, and excessive side-swiping. Yes, if you thought brushing horizontally was the way to go - you were wrong, just like me. It turns out that brushing horizontally damages tooth enamel.

Both in the main window and in the history, we can see all the cleaned (white teeth) and uncleaned (red teeth) areas in the 3D jaw diagram displayed. This is not a diagram of each individual tooth, but separate zones, of which there are 8 as I mentioned. If the brush is connected to the phone, this diagram is updated each time you finish brushing. All this information is presented in a very simple and useful way.

Another window, called “Device”, is accessible via the button bar at the bottom. Here, you can manage all connected devices and see how many days the toothbrush head has been used. After selecting your toothbrush, in addition to detailed information, you can also change several functional settings. The most important of them are a few.

First, the automatic activation of the brush when you lift the brush. This is a function that works flawlessly, and full awakening takes about the same time as it takes to apply toothpaste. Second, automatic additional cleaning for poorly cleaned areas - after completing the selected cleaning, it can be extended for another 30 seconds.

Third, the adaptive morning/evening cleaning mode automatically selects the cleaning mode based on the time of day. Fourth, when the zone change reminder is turned on, the brush will vibrate while brushing your teeth. I couldn't fully understand the latter function - I expected it to vibrate 8 times for all zones, but it vibrates much less often and at different frequencies.

Oclean offers as many as 19 different cleaning programs. If that's not enough, you can create your own by choosing the time, mode (whitening, massage, etc.), and cleaning intensity. But that's not all. Here you can also create a recommended mode based on your gender, age, tooth type, color, and your hobbies (coffee, wine, tea, etc.). Each created or selected program is assigned to an "exclusive" mode and can be selected from the toothbrush itself.

What we didn't like?
Before we start listing what we didn't like, it's important to emphasize that the Oclean X Pro Digital cleans your teeth flawlessly. Even on its strongest setting, it doesn't damage your gums or make too much noise, and you always feel clean after brushing. Of course, there are no limits to perfection, and this electric toothbrush still has room to grow.

First of all, I missed the pressure sensor. Such a sensor would let you know if you are pressing the brush too weakly or too hard. This is as important for proper cleaning as correct vertical movements. In addition, without such a sensor and turning on the cleaning program while holding it in your hand, the brush starts working immediately - if you use a little more toothpaste, there is a high chance of splashing yourself and the environment. Oclean X Ultra has such a sensor and it works great, but more on that in another review.

The Oclean X Pro Digital is a smart toothbrush, but it relies too much on the Oclean app. Without your phone nearby, you can only choose from 3 preset programs. If I just want to brush my teeth on the strongest mode, I simply can't do it because the strength levels are only set through the app.

The zone change reminder is more like a lottery. Even after changing a zone, you can immediately get a reminder to change the zone. I thought it was more based on cleaning time, but I was probably wrong. When using some cleaning modes, the reminder only goes off a couple of times, even though there are 8 zones.

The 3D visualization of the jaw and teeth is great. Although I would like a few more tracking zones, the saddest thing is that this feature cannot be used live, meaning the information is only provided after the teeth cleaning is complete. I think it would be most interesting for each of us to follow this process live.

Verdict
I always thought that I cleaned my teeth really well with a regular toothbrush. However, Oclean X Pro Digital proved me completely wrong. After the first try, my teeth felt super clean and soft, just like after returning from a hygiene cleaning at the dentist. After using this electric toothbrush for a few weeks and finally brushing with a regular one, I feel like my teeth are just not cleaned.

While the X Pro isn't a perfect toothbrush, and there's room for improvement in its app, it's still a great electric toothbrush. It's thoughtfully designed and cleans teeth with impeccable efficiency and without any damage to the gums.
