Unboxing

The parcel arrived in 5 days, delivered by SmartPost (Itella) courier directly to the house. No damage to the packaging, everything is in order. The interior is identical to the previously reviewed "wowspeed" SUP boards. The only difference is that this model comes with a slightly different design of the transport backpack and all three fins are removable, which I think is a plus, because the SUP itself can be rolled up more conveniently and compactly.

Quality

Since I had to test 2 other SUP boards ordered from the gshopper e-store before that, I was able to compare the quality of both the paddle itself and the included accessories. Of course, this model cost a bit more, about €200, but according to the measurements, it is a bit longer (about 30 cm) and the design/print is more exclusive/beautiful for me personally. That's what the price difference is based on. The pump arrived working, the paddle itself without any damage, defects, everything is ok. It's true, I immediately noticed that the paddle extension mechanism - the latch is very weak, it doesn't press normally* and doesn't hold, so you'll have to try to tighten it or find some way of "reinforcement".

*UPDATE: it was only necessary to turn the screw and then it clamps tightly enough and holds.

Preparation

This time the preparation is much simpler, easier and faster. First of all, because I already knew how to assemble and prepare a SUP board for swimming, and second of all - because I bought a car electric pump. At the same time, I also used the power station so that I could actually take the SUP anywhere I wanted to inflate it. I can say that the combo power station + electric pump is very good, because it provides a lot of freedom and convenience! True, although the pump does all the work for you, the inflation itself to 13PSI took about 8 minutes. When you need to inflate 3 SUPs or more, it already takes 25min+... This is quite long, maybe you should try to order a more powerful pump.

Swimming

The Funwater SUP is just as fun as the previously tested wowspeed. Well, maybe that +30cm on the length felt very minimal and it might be able to carry a bigger weight a little better (due to the larger volume). But I still think that such and similar models can withstand about 150 kg (it can be used by two adults or 1 adult + several children).

Since the oar locking mechanism was not maintained, the oar would get stuck even in the shortest position and it was not comfortable for me to swim when I stood up (I am about 185 cm tall). When sitting down or on your knees - everything is ok, the length is enough. You will have to think about how to strengthen that tightening. 

Verdict

I did not feel any very significant difference between the €160 "wowspeed" SUP from gshopper and the more expensive €200 "funwater" model. The set is identical, I would say the quality is also very similar, the differences are minimal. If you want to make life easier with inflation - we highly recommend an electric car pump / rechargeable electric pump, personally the 100% worked.

One of the biggest advantages of SUP is its compactness and convenient transportation. It fits easily in the trunk of a car and can be taken anywhere you want. Swim to the middle of the lake and chill in peace, sunbathe, swim, float surrounded by nature! 

So which SUP to buy?

We suggest that everyone assess their needs and budget and purchase the desired SUP accordingly. Both one and the other brand have different models: from cheaper options for €160 with such a more basic design, to longer and more beautiful models up to €200-€220. The quality and the swimming itself do not fundamentally differ - it is fun both with one and with the other board. So, enjoy the summer and have fun!
